To the polls
Voter turnout in the United States fluctuates in national elections. In recent decades, about 60% of the voting eligible population votes during presidential election years and about 40% votes during midterm elections, with 2020 and 2018 marking the highest presidential and midterm turnout in over a century. (source: fairvote.org) Here at Yahoo, we want to do our part in helping users make it to the polls by making all the information needed to vote in the midterm elections easily accessible. We have done an early launch of a suite of pre-elections experiences on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
The “Register to vote” experience is an Information Direct Display module for the states that have concluded their primary elections. It includes the date you need to register by and how to register (online or via mail). There are also convenient quick links to check your voter registration status or complete your registration with Yahoo + TurboVote.
How to vote
The “How to vote” experience is also an Information Direct Display module for the states that have concluded their primary elections. This provides important details about polling hours and locations. It also addresses absentee voting by mail and in-person absentee voting.
Knowledge Graphs
Our Knowledge Graphs provide information on midterm elections/incumbent officials of all 50 states. You can quickly find how many seats are up for 2022 elections, “Did you know” facts and links to the state’s social media platforms.
These experiences are currently seeing a CTR of 2.6% which we expect to increase as we get closer to November. We hope these modules provide the crucial information our users need, just a click away! See you at the polls!
